Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 7 July 2026

Written to be clear and complete and provided for transparency. We recommend reviewing with a qualified legal advisor before relying on this commercially. Questions: hello@seoiq.co.uk.

1. About these terms

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of SEOIQ, the AI-assisted website-audit service available at seoiq.co.uk ("the Service"), operated by SmoothByte IT ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account, purchasing credits, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Definitions

"Scan" — an automated audit we run against a website URL you submit.
"Credits" — the prepaid units consumed when you run a scan.
"Full scan" — all seven front-end audit sections plus the combined score.
"Section scan" — a scan of one or more individual sections you select.
"Report" — the on-screen and/or PDF results of a scan.
"Account" — the user account you register to access the Service.

3. The Service

SEOIQ runs AI-assisted audits covering Technical SEO, Content & On-Page, Answer-Engine Optimization (AEO), GEO/Local, Generative-Engine Readiness, Core Web Vitals and Accessibility, returning a score and specific recommendations for each area. Audits are generated using automated tooling and third-party AI models. We may add, change, or remove audit checks, scoring methods, features, and pricing at any time as the Service evolves.

4. Accounts & eligibility

You must be at least 18 and provide accurate registration details. You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for all activity under your Account. You may reset your password at any time, and we may issue password-reset emails on request. Notify us promptly of any unauthorised use. We may refuse, suspend, or close accounts that breach these Terms.

5. Free trial

New accounts receive a one-time allowance of free trial credits so you can try the Service. Trial credits are enough for a first full scan, are non-transferable, hold no cash value, and may be varied or withdrawn for future sign-ups at our discretion. On a free (trial-only) account you can run and view a scan on-screen; downloading PDF reports and keeping full scan history require a paid credit purchase.

6. Credits, pricing & payment

Scans are paid for with Credits. A full scan costs a fixed number of Credits; individual sections cost less, priced by section (for example, the AEO and Core Web Vitals sections cost more as they use our deepest model and live performance data). The exact cost is shown before you run each scan. Credits do not expire.

Credit packs are one-time purchases. Prices are shown in GBP and are inclusive of any applicable taxes unless stated otherwise. Card payments are processed securely by Stripe; we do not store your card details. Credits are added to your balance automatically once payment is confirmed, which also unlocks PDF export and scan history. Purchasing more than you use does not entitle you to a cash refund of unused Credits except as set out below or as required by law.

7. Refunds

If we issue a refund for a credit purchase (in whole or in part), the corresponding Credits are automatically removed from your balance in proportion to the amount refunded. Where you have already spent some of those Credits, the deduction is limited so your balance is not taken below zero. Beyond your statutory rights, refunds are granted at our reasonable discretion — for example, for a duplicate charge or a genuine billing error. Because Credits deliver a digital service consumed on demand, we may decline refunds for Credits that have already been used.

8. Acceptable use

You may only scan websites that you own or are otherwise authorised to audit. You must not: scan sites without authorisation; use the Service to attack, overload, or unlawfully probe systems; attempt to bypass credit charging, rate limits, or access controls; resell, sublicense, or white-label the Service without our written agreement; scrape, reverse-engineer, or disrupt the Service; or use it for anything unlawful. We may throttle, suspend, or terminate access for suspected misuse.

9. AI-generated results — no guarantee

Audit scores, findings, and recommendations are produced by automated systems and AI models. They are provided for guidance only, may contain errors or omissions, and do not guarantee any search ranking, traffic, conversion, or commercial outcome. Search engines and AI answer engines change constantly and are outside our control. You are responsible for reviewing and validating any recommendation before acting on it. The Service is not legal, accessibility-compliance, or professional advice.

10. Fixes & recommendations

Where the Service proposes a "fix" (for example, suggested schema, meta tags, or configuration), it is a recommendation for you to review and implement on your own site at your discretion and risk. Applying changes to a live website may affect its behaviour; always take a backup first. We are not responsible for the results of changes you choose to make based on our recommendations.

11. Your data & privacy

To run a scan we fetch and analyse the public pages of the URL you submit, and we store the resulting reports, findings, and your account and billing records. Your scans, sites, history, and reports are private to your Account and are not shared with other customers. How we collect, use, and protect personal data is set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. Transactional emails (sign-up, password reset, and periodic credit-balance summaries) are sent as part of the Service.

12. Third-party services

The Service relies on third parties including Stripe (payments), Brevo (email delivery), Cloudflare (network/CDN), Google PageSpeed Insights (performance data), and third-party AI providers (audit generation). Your use of the Service may be subject to their terms, and we are not responsible for their acts or omissions.

13. Intellectual property

SEOIQ, its name, branding, software, and the structure and presentation of its reports are owned by us and protected by law. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service and to use the reports we generate for your own or your clients' websites. You retain ownership of the site data and content you submit. You must not copy, resell, or redistribute the Service or its reports as a competing product.

14. Availability

We aim to keep the Service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". We may perform maintenance, and features may change or be withdrawn. Scans depend on the target site being reachable and on third-party systems that may be unavailable from time to time.

15. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses, or for loss of profit, revenue, rankings, data, or goodwill arising from your use of the Service or reliance on its output. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for Credits in the three (3) months before the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

16. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify us against claims, losses, and costs arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, or your scanning of any website you were not authorised to audit.

17. Suspension & termination

You may stop using the Service and close your Account at any time by contacting us. We may suspend or terminate your access, with or without notice, if you breach these Terms or where we reasonably believe it necessary to protect the Service or other users. On termination, unused Credits are forfeited unless a refund is required by law.

18. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date above shows the current version, and material changes will be reflected here. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

19. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, without affecting any mandatory consumer-protection rights in your country of residence.
